We are Web Teach and our mission is to create equality in the education offered across all schools in Taiwan. The first step we see in achieving this goal is to focus on helping students from elementary schools to high schools, who live and study in remote areas which have less access to educational resources available to those living in cities.
A fundamental problem to tackle is how to reach those kids living in remote areas. Our solution is to use the internet to offer online-teaching, thus easing the difficulty and costs of finding qualified teachers to teach in these areas and also reducing transportation costs. In order to do this we will use APC Rock, a low-cost computer, WiFi hotspot, microphone and a web-camera....etc. to build our online-classroom. We have already successfully tested the model and are ready to begin implementing it across Taiwan.
As Employers are increasingly looking for college graduates with real-world work experience we aim to use college students for our online tutors. This will provide the tutors with valuable work experience as well as provide motivated instructors for the children in the program.
By combining technology and the passion of the college students, we are sure that we will achieve our goal and create a stronger Taiwan for the future.
